An extensive extended voyage through Australia has been cancelled in the wake of the tragic passing of an senior female passenger who was left behind by the ship on a isolated tropical isle.

The passenger had been walking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but separated from the party for a break. The vessel sailed away leaving her and went back later that day after the crew realised the lady was not present.

A large-scale hunt discovered her body the following day.

Authorities are investigating the incident, alongside investigators and the official investigator.

Head of the voyage organizer stated that guests and crew on the vessel were notified that the rest of the cruise had been terminated due to the "unfortunate death and prior technical problems".

Through an announcement, he further stated that travelers would be provided a total repayment, and said the operator was working "to organize the travel back of the travelers via private aircraft".

Officials also published an updated announcement, and said they had "provided a order to the Captain" banning any additional guests from boarding the liner.

The official said that they would visit the liner in Cairns upon its arrival.

The liner first departed the Australian port on the 24th of October, and was only 48 hours into the journey at the moment of the senior passenger's passing. Lizard Island was the first stop on the itinerary.

Travelers on board - who generally pay substantial amounts of currency to take part in the cruise - were taken there for a day trip with the option of walking or snorkelling.

The child of the elderly passenger said that her relatives was "surprised and distressed that the liner left the location after an organised tour without my mother".

Via her announcement, she characterized her mother as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a participant of a walking club.

"From the little facts we have been told, it appears that there was a failure of attention and ordinary reasoning," she said.

She further stated that she desired the investigation would be able to pinpoint what "the company should have done that might have preserved Her life".

"We understand from the police that it was a very hot day, and mum fell ill on the mountain ascent," she revealed.

"They requested her to go back, unescorted. Then the ship left, reportedly without doing a passenger count.

"At a certain moment in that sequence, or soon after, mother passed away, without company."

Organization Response

In a statement, the CEO confirmed that the organization was "collaborating extensively with authorities to aid their examination".

He said that the organization was "extremely apologetic that this has happened" and had extended its total backing to the family.

The liner accommodates up to 120 guests with 46 staff, according to official details. It was purpose-built to enter isolated areas of the Australian shoreline and is fitted with "auxiliary vessels" - minor craft used to ferry individuals on shore trips.

Occurrences like this are infrequent, and passenger vessels have procedures to document which individuals are embarking or leaving, according to travel authorities.

"Sneaking ashore or [back] on the ship simply isn't an choice," an authority remarked.

Shipping companies consider these procedures very seriously and have "sophisticated systems in place to prevent such occurrences from happening," the specialist added.
