Slot Insists He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his position following another heavy defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win naturally but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with The Board

When asked to expand on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “In the normal conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this game so far so let’s see.”

Familiar Problems and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented familiar shortcomings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I've watched Liverpool since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“Our aim is to help the side back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
