Recent details have emerged about the shocking demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles property on Sunday.

A Discovery

As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an session initially became concerned after failing to get inside the residence. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides in the vicinity.

When she went into the home, Romy came upon her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, not realizing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had gone with her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is currently detained and is ineligible for bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family also disputed several earlier details. The source indicated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

The source also pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "apprehensive" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. While the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "scolded" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were inaccurate.

According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died on Saturday evening or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been dead for a number of hours.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until no sooner than Wednesday.
