Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is unclear and the American officials has not commented.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - stated they have shot down missiles in their territorial skies.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on the Islamic Republic initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
