Fans Urge Detainment of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a individual who leaped a barrier and touched the actress during Thursday's Wicked: For Good premiere be detained or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the Australian man bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers made its way down a event pathway flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly guided the shocked actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the event by guards.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "released after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram feed contains videos of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over the Star's Well-being
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a terrorist explosion at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said a further response on Instagram.
Several supporters also criticised guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the incident, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Hundreds of attendees had assembled in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it started.
The movie, to be premiered on 21 November, is the follow-up of a dual version of the acclaimed stage show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected relationship between two contrasting sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown embroidered with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning film of 2024 in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, securing two for outstanding attire and production design.
