Ex- Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
List of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
