British Katie Boulter admits she feels she has to "decide between my body and my world standing" as the scramble continues for a place in January's Australian Open main event.

While the regular WTA Tour competitive period is completed, there are still ranking points to be earned in Latin American countries, Argentina, Ecuador and international tournaments.

The female participant roster for the initial Grand Slam of the forthcoming season will be based on the international positions of the December cutoff, which could create a difficult choice for players close to the qualification line.

Injury Concerns

Former British number one Boulter tore an hip muscle in her last tournament of the year in international locations last period, and is now considering whether to compete in the WTA 125 secondary tournament in European venues, France, in the opening days of December.

Boulter's current physical issue, and the reality she would need to achieve at least several wins in Angers to boost her ranking, means she may well eventually not playing.

Varying Approaches

In opposition, male players are not confronting the same dilemma, as for the premier occasion the male Australian Open entry list will be established from current week's rankings, which is the ATP's formal year-end ranking date.

The change is aimed at preventing competitors from chasing ranking points during what is essentially the break period.

Coaching Changes

This year has been a demanding one for Boulter.

She secured just fourteen professional main-draw contests and recently parted ways with instructor Biljana Veselinovic after a three-year partnership in which she captured multiple WTA titles.

"Biljana is an exceptional coach, and an exceptionally excellent person as well, which creates situations extremely hard," Boulter said.

The quest for a different trainer is actively progressing, seeking a professional who has top-tier experience as Boulter continues to think she can be a elite-level player.

Future Goals

"Moving ahead with a replacement instructor, an important factor I'm completely sure on is that they are going to be an individual who has considerable experience in how to succeed to the peak performance of this profession," she stated.

"I've been positioned as advanced as 23 and I am confident I can return there. I don't believe my standard has diminished, I think the consistency should improve.

"My objective is not simply to be placed 50, 40, 30, twenty - we've achieved that. The objective is to be among the top twenty."
