Week 10 once more provided excitement, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' mantra that attracts so many fans into the NFL

That result could have created opportunities for the Patriots to move back into a top spot they used to occupy, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their 8-2 competitors

Over in the National Football Conference the Seahawks and Rams had perfect results to set up a monster clash in week 11, while our top performer is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award

Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?

Josh Allen in action
Did Josh Allen try too much or could it simply have been a bad day for Buffalo?

Could it simply have been an emotional comedown from defeating Kansas City last week or something more? This remains the question for the Buffalo team to answer

The Buffalo squad had secured seven victories in a row against the Dolphins but were second best from the start as the Miami team ran out 30-13 winners in an eye-opening outcome - and display

MVP quarterback Josh Allen only achieved the team's initial first down in the third period and initial scoring in the final quarter - admittedly the Dolphins had 10 days to get ready but it was nonetheless a significant failure laid by one of the league's best offenses

Tua Tagovailoa passed for two touchdowns but rusher Achane was the game-changing factor, with 225 combined yards and two touchdowns

Bottling up the league's best rushing attack was also key, with James Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than half their 161.5-yard season average

Then there were the three crucial turnovers, and the two from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone meaning a nine minute possession yielded no points, and his fourth-quarter fumble that Miami turned into seven points just later

It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a hole on defensive side and Allen trying to overcompensate to dig his team from the situation - rather than the calm, disciplined, well-balanced Buffalo team we've witnessed this year

The Dolphins have served up a varied performances this year so the jury's out on whether this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll need an instant response in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a nice lead at the top of the AFC East

In Focus - New England See Path to Unexpected First Place

Speaking of the New England, they're among three eight and two teams in the league, all American Football Conference sides, but are they the best?

One could pick holes in New England, Denver and the Colts really for dominating the lesser sides, with only five of their total 24 victories achieved against opponents with a positive record - and one of those was the Colts defeating the Denver

The Broncos beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are kings of the final quarter while Indy can rely on Taylor, but the Patriots adding Sunday's win in Tampa to their primtime success in Orchard Park appears to be a statement

Their two defeats came in recently appointed coach Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven consecutive victories, similar to Denver, since then - but taking down Baker Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was huge

Drake Maye's MVP claims continue to be discussed, and he certainly earns credit for bravery after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to steer his team to success

The defensive unit is solid and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on Sunday with 147 yards and two exciting touchdowns of fifty-five and sixty-nine yards - becoming just the fifth runner to break 22mph this season on his first score

Although you can debate who 'the top team' is statistically, the Patriots should be favorites to finish with the best record thanks to their remaining opponents - which features just a single matchup against a winning team, albeit a significant contest against the Bills

Visiting Baltimore is also tough, but Denver have it more difficult in the AFC West with the Chiefs to face two times, the Los Angeles Chargers (who might also compete for first place but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the fixture list

The Indianapolis also face the Chiefs, and have the Seattle, 49ers and two matchups with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There is a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is open for a surprise number one position in the American Football Conference

Coming Up - Rams & Seahawks Prepare for Week 11 Clash

Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three eight and two sides are NFC West opponents the Seahawks and Rams, who each put up 40 burgers to reach 7-2 before next week's Hollywood blockbuster game between the pair in LA

Both have won four in a consecutive games, have quarterbacks in Stafford and Darnold playing at an elite level (although Darnold had ball security problems on Sunday) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units allowing fewer than twenty points a contest

Each could easily be without a loss as well - especially the Los Angeles as their pair of losses occurred in overtime against the 49ers and then that painful defeat in Philly when they had a potentially winning field goal with the final play deflected and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown

Seattle were also defeated to the 49ers, with a late touchdown in the opening week, before losing to the final play of the contest against the Tampa Bay - so they are truly among the best sides in the NFL

The next matchup on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season so far

Top Performer - Jonathan Taylor
